Connected Device Program
The Allegany County Library System is excited to announce that, in partnership with the Allegany County Government, we’ll be distributing Chromebooks to eligible Allegany County households through the Maryland Connected Devices Program (MD-CDP). Our joint efforts aim to bridge the digital divide and enhance digital literacy across Maryland.
Distribution Events:
The libraries will be hosting distribution events at various locations and community sites throughout Allegany County. Please make sure to bring the required qualifying documents to verify your eligibility at the event. Pre-register on the Allegany County website or visit one of the distribution events, see the schedule below.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Participants must be Allegany County residents aged 18 or older.
- Only one device is allowed per household.
- Participation in one of the qualifying programs or income criteria below
Required Documents for Chromebook Pickup:
- Photo ID: (Driver’s license, state ID, work or government ID, passport, etc.)
- Proof of Allegany County Residence: (Current rental lease, tax bill, pay stub, vehicle registration, voter’s registration card, utility bills)
- Proof of Eligibility (see qualifications below)
Qualifications for Participation: To be eligible, households must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Participation in Government Assistance Programs: Such as –
- Child receives free or reduced-price school lunch
- Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
- Medicaid
- Pell Grant (current award year)
- SNAP (formerly Food Stamps)
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
- WIC
- Income Eligibility: Households with an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, including:
- $29,160 for a household of 1
- $39,440 for a household of 2
- $49,720 for a household of 3
- $60,000 for a household of 4
- $70,280 for a household of 5
- $80,560 for a household of 6
- $90,840 for a household of 7
- $101,120 for a household of 8
- Or $10,280 more for each additional household member
- Enrollment in the Federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)
Examples of proof include (but are not limited to) a proof of benefit like your SNAP or Medicaid card, your internet bill showing the ACP discount, or the first page of your most recent tax return.
